Enlivening the Dry and Weary Hearts of Church Leaders and Members
Published: Thu, 04/14/22
I equip people to serve God and others in a way that is both fruitful and sustainable. I do this through teaching, writing, and coaching. This newsletter is part of that work.

1. Personal Update
In this week's issue, I'm sharing the video recording of my recent presentation on dealing with stress and burnout. I enjoyed the chance to share some of what I've learned over the years about the
importance -- and challenge -- of maintaining our own emotional health and well-being in an environment that is profoundly unhealthy.
Renewed Man Pilot Program: Launching Soon!
If you've been reading this newsletter for long, you know that I've been working on a program for men, to help them gain sexual self-mastery, renewed energy and focus, and renewed intimacy in their marriages. I'm super-excited to actually be launching the pilot group later this month.
Check out the Renewed Man Boot Camp info below, or just go to the information link here. You can let me know if you're interested in being part of the pilot group using the form at the bottom.
I'm going to start the pilot group for the Renewed Man Boot Camp later this month -- April 25. The boot camp is a 12 week
program for men to help them learn better ways to control and focus their sex drive in a world filled with sensuality, provocative television and social media, and pornography.
3. FEATURE VIDEO: Enlivening the Dry and Weary Hearts of Church Leaders and
Members
I recently spoke at a conference called "Enlivening the Dry and Weary Heart of Our Churches," and I'm including the video of the presentation here. I am happy and able to do so, as the conference was free, and under-written by our
Classis Home Mission Board.
The theme of the conference was how to renew ourselves and deal with the stress and weariness that many people are struggling with in the aftermath of these past difficult years (of COVID, racism and social unrest, and deep political division). My presentation focused on the key issues for people in any kind of leadership positions, and/or those who want to be of service in the
world in some kind of volunteer capacity.
The presentation itself is about 40 minutes ... then the rest is Q & A with a panel that includes the other event speakers.
The video does not contain the powerpoint slides I used. You can view them using "haikudeck" here:
(Note that the video link starts at 2:08 in the original video ... the beginning of my talk ... after I was introduced, and there was an audio glitch.)
