We drive ourselves crazy trying to control what we simply can’t control. And you know what’s outside our control? The choices other people make. Sure, we can influence them, offer encouragement, share wisdom — but at the end of the day, people are going to do what they’re going to do. And when we try to
control them, it only creates stress in us and pushes them away.
There’s a quote I love from the old TV show M*A*S*H*. Colonel Potter, one of the characters, puts it like this:
“Just remember, there's a right way and a wrong way to do everything and the wrong way is to keep trying to make everybody else do it the right way.”
