In this week's video, I share one of the keys to healing and long term recovery: emotional awareness. At first glance, this might not seem so important -- in fact, we sometimes look down on people who are "too emotional."
But the reality is, many of us are disconnected from the awareness of what's happening in our hearts ... and this is creates big problems for us. Rather than suggesting that we become slaves to our emotions, by highlighting the importance of emotional awareness, I'm actually suggesting the opposite: when we're able to understand, name, and accept our emotions, then we have power over them. Then we cease being their slave. Then, rather than engage in
self-destructive behaviors that we don't understand (because the underlying emotional mechanisms are unknown to us), we become more deliberate, more grounded, and less needy ... and therefore able to find healing and maintain long-term recovery.
Once again, if you like the video, please share it and subscribe to the channel. We're working closer to the threshold of subscribers that will give us more options (from YouTube) for better control of the channel. Have a great week!

2. New Seminar: Mentally Healthy, Mentally Strong: facing the internal struggles that define our lives
I've put together a workshop that I'd love to give at your church or community organization. Up until now (prior to the pandemic), this kind of workshop has been important and helpful -- and I've led many of them. But now, in our situation today, this kind of seminar is paramount.
Quick Overview of the Seminar
I would focus on three particular aspects of this struggle, and depending on the audience, I could give more or less attention to each of these three:
- Struggles with Anxiety
- Struggles with Discouragement / Depression
- Struggles with Desire (sexual temptation, intimacy)

"Leaving Your
Mark Without Losing Your Mind"
This book focuses on the innate need we all have to make a difference with our lives ... and what gets in the way. Building a life of meaning and purpose is essential for our happiness, but many people get sidelined because of stress, overwhelm, and discouragement. This book will help you find strategies to overcome those challenges (and others).
